The 2nd Annual GNEMA Driver Safety Competition will be held on Wednesday, September 30th at the Harrah's located in Atlantic City, NJ.  Download the flyer

The competition is scheduled during our Fall Annual Association Meeting & Eventsscheduled September 29-October 1, 2026 at Tropicana in Atlantic City.  We also have Driver Safety Competition Sponsorships available!

This competition is not just about showcasing driving skills but also about reinforcing our mission and commitment to safety and community within the motorcoach industry.  

The competition is limited to 20 drivers.  You can register 1 driver per company.

The driver participation cost is $125 per driver and includes breakfast, lunch and more! Drivers must meet all of the criteria outlined below. There are also volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available. 

Driver Criteria for Eligibility Requirements:

Drivers desiring to compete in the 2026 GNEMA Driver Competition must meet certain minimum requirements:

  • Driver must possess a valid commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement at the time of application and event.
  • Driver must have a current medical certificate at the time of application and event.
  • The driver’s license may not have been suspended for any reason in the past 24 months.
  • GNEMA Operator Member (sponsor) must actively employ the driver at the time of application.
  • Actively driving a bus and/or motorcoach as their primary occupation during the period under consideration.
  • No out-of-service (OOS) violations within the past 24 months; i.e., Hour of Service (HOS) violations.
  • Bus and/or motorcoach drivers must have driven at least two years accident free (preventable).

There will be eight (8) scored events and drivers will complete an on-board evaluation and a written test.  The obstacles and tests are listed below:

  • Backing
  • 90-degree turn 
  • Offset Alley
  • Parallel Parking
  • Serpentine
  • Stop Line
  • Pre-trip
  • Onboard observer

  • 1st Place: $300 + Qualifies to Compete in the Next UMA National Competition + Trophy + Name on Traveling Trophy
  • 2nd Place $150 + Trophy
  • 3rd Place $50 + Trophy

Pricing

$125 per driver (includes breakfast, lunch and more!)

Due to venue guarantees, cancellations made within three weeks of the event are non-refundable. All requests must be submitted in writing to pcowley@gnema.org.
